Shae - Home Dedication Ceremony
Alachua Habitat for Humanity Partners with Florida Victorious and Bryan Builders as Gator Student-Athletes Help Build an Affordable Home
Gainesville, FL – For one local woman, Shae, the process of building her home with Alachua Habitat for Humanity was made even more memorable by building it alongside members of the Florida Gators Football team. The result of a partnership with Florida Victorious, proud NIL partner of the Florida Gators, and Bryan Builders, the keys to the home located at 1752 SE 6th Avenue in Gainesville will be handed over during a dedication ceremony on Tuesday, July 11th at noon. The presentation will be live-streamed on Alachua Habitat’s Facebook page.
Bryan Builders is a family-owned and operated general contracting company that has been in business for over 13 years. The company is committed to providing quality construction and customer service. Owner and president Scott Bryan is a UF Graduate and played on the Gator Football team in 1995-1999. Bryan Builders is the presenting sponsor for Shae’s home
“We are honored to partner with Alachua Habitat for Humanity on this project,” said Bryan. “We believe that everyone deserves a safe and affordable place to call home, and we are proud to help make that a reality for this family.”
Members of the Florida Gators Football team, Head Football Coach Billy Napier, and University of Florida President Ben Sasse all participated in the build; and some of these student-athletes will be available at the home dedication ceremony to speak about their experience of building the home and their service work across Gainesville with Alachua Habitat.
The home was built for a local Alachua County resident, named Shae, who had been living in substandard housing. She is excited to move into her new home, which will provide her with a safe and affordable place to live. “I am so grateful to Alachua Habitat for Humanity for this opportunity,” said the homeowner. “I never thought I would be able to afford a home, but thanks to their help, my dream has come true.”
Alachua Habitat for Humanity has built 177 homes in Alachua County helping hundreds of people in the local community. These homes are not given away, rather homeowners take on the responsibility of paying a mortgage they can afford. Their sweat equity requirement consists of 250 hours working on their own home, working on the homes of others, and attending homeownership and financial literacy workshops.
