Alachua Habitat for Humanity Receives 2025 State Farm Grant
State Farm Grant Helps Build a Home for the Muhammad Family
Gainesville – Thanks to a $10,000 grant from State Farm, Alachua Habitat for Humanity is building a safe, stable, and affordable home for the Muhammad family. These funds will help cover critical building materials and supplies needed to complete the home, which will provide a fresh start for a hardworking mother and her three children.
For Shadrekah Muhammad, homeownership has been a long dream. As a single mother of three—her 7-year-old son and two daughters, ages 3 and 1—she has worked tirelessly to provide a better future for her family. Facing rising rent costs and housing instability, she partnered with Habitat, completing 250 hours of sweat equity by helping build her home and the homes of other Habitat families. Thanks to this partnership and the generous support of State Farm, she is now on the path to homeownership, financial stability, and the long-term security.
To celebrate this milestone, Alachua Habitat for Humanity invites the community to join the Muhammad family for their Home Dedication Ceremony on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at 10:00 AM. The event will take place at 660 NE 17th Street, Gainesville, FL 32641, where supporters, volunteers, and community members can come together to recognize the hard work and dedication that made this home a reality.
“This grant from State Farm directly supports the Muhammad family’s home, ensuring they have the materials needed for a safe and stable future,” said Jessica Kellar, Development and Communications Manager at Alachua Habitat for Humanity. “We are incredibly grateful for State Farm’s investment in this family and our community.”
In addition to funding, State Farm associates and agents will have the opportunity to volunteer alongside Habitat staff and community members to help bring this home to completion. These efforts align with State Farm’s mission of strengthening communities through direct involvement and service.
“We are proud to support Alachua Habitat for Humanity in making homeownership a reality for families like the Muhammads,” said Jose Soto, Corporate Responsibility Analyst at State Farm. “Through this grant and hands-on volunteer opportunities, we are working together to build stronger, more resilient communities.”
The Muhammad family’s Home Dedication Ceremony is open to all who wish to celebrate this special moment and see firsthand the impact of community support in action. Alachua Habitat welcomes volunteers every Wednesday and Saturday to be part of home builds.
