Alachua Habitat for Humanity Receives $5,000 Grant from State Farm
Gainesville, FL – Alachua Habitat for Humanity is happy to announce they have been awarded a State Farm grant to purchase materials and supplies to help them continue their mission of providing a safe, decent and affordable place to live for the residents of Alachua County.
In addition, State Farm has announced that their agents will be volunteering their time on different Alachua Habitat build sites throughout the year. “We are delighted to partner again with State Farm!” said Stevie Doyle, Chief Outreach and Development Officer of Alachua Habitat for Humanity. “State Farm has been a valued supporter of Habitat for many years.” Through community grants and active volunteering, State Farm reinvests in the communities they serve as a way of giving back and helping to strengthen neighborhoods.
The funds from this grant will specifically be applied towards Kiana’s future home in High Springs. Kiana is an aspiring student as well as a manager and cook at a local restaurant who is currently living in a very old family home with her mother that poses threats to their safety due to concerns of gun violence. She is most excited to be able to say the phrase, “My Home” and cannot wait to host Thanksgiving and Christmas parties in a safe space.
In order to qualify for an Alachua Habitat for Humanity home, a family must be willing to partner with Habitat by demonstrating a need for housing, willingness to complete 250 hours working to build their home and someone else’s home, attend financial literacy and relevant homeownership classes and they must be able to assume an affordable mortgage payment at the end of the build.
For more information about this build, please contact Stevie Doyle.
