Santa Fe College XIV House, Sponsored by CPPI

Home on the Move: Alachua Habitat for Humanity and Santa Fe College Celebrate Latest Build, Sponsored by CPPI!

Gainesville – Construction students and apprentices at Santa Fe College’s Charles R. Perry Construction Institute have built a new house for Alachua Habitat for Humanity, which will be delivered to its destination site at 334 NE 20th Terrace, Gainesville, FL 32641, on Thursday, June 13th. The house is expected to arrive at the site between 10:30 – 11:00 a.m.

In celebration of this achievement, there will be a Home Send-Off Celebration on Wednesday, June 12th at 3:00p.m. at the Santa Fe College's Charles R. Perry Construction Institute. During this event, speakers from CPPI, Alachua Habitat, and Santa Fe College will discuss the unique partnership between these three organizations. The following day, the Home on the Move event will mark the home's delivery to its permanent location.

This project marks the third time that local company Charles Perry Partners, Inc. (CPPI) is sponsoring a Habitat house constructed by Santa Fe students.

“CPPI is proud to partner with Alachua Habitat for Humanity and Santa Fe College on our third whole house sponsorship.  This unique collaboration provides an affordable, quality-built home for a local family while allowing local building construction students to apply what they’ve learned in a truly meaningful way.  We are also proud to honor Mr. Perry’s legacy as our company continues to partner with Santa Fe College and the construction institute that bears his name.” said Brian Leslie, CPPI President.

Built by students at the college, this home provides them with valuable real-world experience that benefits the community. The house is constructed in two sections at the institute, and each section is then transported to the site separately.

Once construction is completed and the house is ready to be moved, a crane will load each section onto a trailer for transport to the home site. At the site, a crane will lift each section off the trailer and place them on the home’s foundation. Following this, Alachua Habitat partners and volunteers will add a front porch, back porch, driveway, landscaping, and any other finishing touches.

Future homeowner Toikeith will work alongside CPPI team members and other volunteers to complete the house, which is expected to be finished in the fall. Toikeith, a proud uncle to 14 nephews and nieces, looks forward to cooking meals in his new kitchen and hosting his family, especially his mother, seeing this as a christening of sorts for his new home.

Alachua Habitat for Humanity

Founded in 1986, Alachua Habitat for Humanity is the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. We envision a world where everyone has a decent place to live and we work towards that vision by bringing people together to build strength, stability, and independence through shelter. To accomplish these goals, we invite people of all backgrounds, races, and religions to build houses “Habitat Houses“ together in partnership with families in need of affordable housing. Habitat houses are sold to homeowner families financed with mortgages they can afford. For more information visit our About Page.
