A Celebration of Ambition: Alachua Habitat’s 183rd Home Dedication for the Johnson Family

Gainesville – Alachua Habitat for Humanity is proud to announce the dedication of a new home for the Johnson Family. This milestone represents hard work, perseverance, and a commitment to building a better future. The dedication ceremony will take place on Monday, October 21st, at 10:00 AM at 659 NE 16th Terrace, Gainesville, FL 32641.

The Johnson family, led by Corenda, a determined single mother of three, is excited to move into their new home. Corenda, born and raised in Gainesville, returned after high school in 2009 to build a life for herself and her family. After earning certifications in Medical Assistance and Phlebotomy, she worked hard to balance education, work, and motherhood. As her family grew, space became an issue in their home, and she decided to pursue homeownership to provide her children with a safe, spacious, and peaceful living environment. Her journey through the Alachua Habitat Homeownership program has been a rewarding one, and she feels blessed to begin this new chapter.

This project highlights the power of community collaboration. Bryan Builders, a dedicated partner of Alachua Habitat, played a key role in supporting the construction of this home. Additionally, True Force Roofing generously donated all the materials and labor for the roof. Florida Victorious, the official NIL partner of the Florida Gators, also made a significant impact. Student-athletes from multiple Gator sports programs contributed to the build, representing their commitment to service and giving back to the Gainesville community.

“We are thrilled to see these partnerships come together," said Stevie Doyle, Executive Director of Alachua Habitat for Humanity. "The combined efforts of Bryan Builders, True Force Roofing, and Florida Victorious have created an incredible opportunity for the Johnson family. This collaboration showcases the strength of community partnerships and their lasting impact on families in need of affordable housing."

The success of this project would not have been possible without the help of 157 volunteers who contributed over 1,099 hours to the construction. Alachua Habitat extends heartfelt thanks to all the sponsors, volunteers, and community members who continue to support affordable housing initiatives in Alachua County.

Alachua Habitat for Humanity builds homes for families and individuals who demonstrate a need for housing, the ability to pay an affordable mortgage, and a willingness to invest 250 hours of sweat equity. Homeowner candidates also complete educational workshops that prepare them for sustainable homeownership, ensuring that they are set up for success.
